Naeem Mian was born in Lahore Pakistan. As a child he lived in Saudi Arabia where his Dad worked in American Arabian Oil Company. He studied in Lahore till 7th grade before continuing at Cadet College Hasan Abdal and F.C.College, Lahore.
A graduate from college of Pharmacy, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan in 1981 has worked in every facet of pharmacy from marketing, Pharmaceutical Industry, retail, hospital pharmacy with focus but not limited to research, Oncology and Total Parenteral Nutrition. Naeem Mian has worked as a clinical and Pharmacist Informaticist with the department of veterans affairs. He has served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various pharmacy suites of applications.
Naeem Mian had played a key role with the National Database Integration (NDBI) team responsible for integrating hospitals between 1996 and 2000. He has worked with Pharmacy Re-Engineering Program since its inception in 2003. He has worked in various capacities within VA from a staff Pharmacist to Director, Pharmacy informatics at New Jersey Health Care System, SME with PBM (Pharmacy Benefits Management) to his current position as an IT specialist with the national Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) and Health Product Support in implementing and sustainment of pharmacy applications.
Mr. Mian had been an innovator and had created solutions that were adopted as national solutions. He created Barcode Medication Administration Backup system and Non-VA meds program. Naeem developed a protocol for Clinic orders and presented this functionality as early as 2000 in what was called CAMP CPRS. This later bloomed in VA as IMO (inpatient Meds for Outpatients) to current Clinic Orders.
He was awarded “Innovator of the year” certificate by PBM and was presented an award by Secretary Principi in early 2000’s. Naeem believes that his purpose of life is served, if his scientific work ends up saving one human life. Naeem had been a keen student of history, comparative theology, Geography, study of human behavior, politics, Philosophy and psychological warfare. He loves fine things in life and admires every facet of fine arts from poetry, music to paintings.
